As many might know, Danish metallers Mnemic have been in the scene for a while now, and in their latest effort Sons of the System, they have made their presence known. Since the band’s last effort, 2007′s Passenger, Mnemic has been hard at work writing new material, promising loyal fans a great album. They succeeded.

Ever since the addition of their new vocalist Guillaume Bideau (ex-Scarve), the band has been going through a set of changes. With their last effort receiving mixed reviews, the band set out to record a completely new album that retained their signature sound. Returning to the studio with producer Tue Madsen, producer of their first and second albums, Mnemic once again has captured the essence of industrial melodic metal. The first and title track “Sons of the System” opens up with aggressive style riffing accompanied by a rather catchy chorus reminiscent of Mechanical Spin Phenomena, the bands debut. Throughout the album, tracks like “Diesel Uterus” and “Elongated Sporadic Bursts” satisfy the listener with technical, precise, and melodic ear candy. The production on the album is top notch thanks to Madsen. From the droning low guitars to the atmospheric electronic synths, every instrument has been captured faithfully.

As a whole, this is the bands most diverse and refined effort yet. A true gem to any fan of the genre as well as a personal accomplishment for the band. Clocking in at 52:50, this album features 13 tracks of pure cybernetic metal mayhem nicely tied by electronica style percussion. A must have for any fans of Mnemic, Sybreed, and Sonic Syndicate.
