Jani Lane‘s life will be celebrated today at the Jani Lane Memorial Show, which starts at 5 p.m at Ripper Owens Tap House in Akron, Ohio (owned by former Judas Priest and Iced Earth singer Tim “Ripper” Owens) in Akron, Ohio. Lane was a Northeast Ohio native. The event will be hosted by comedian Don Jamieson, who co-hosts VH1 Classic‘s heavy metal talk-show series “That Metal Show.”

Warrant vocalist Jani Lane was found dead a year ago from alcohol poisoning in a hotel in Los Angeles.. He was only 47.

Warrant bandmate Billy Morris will perform at the show with his band, Breakfast Club.

“We’ll do some Warrant songs,” Morris told the Plain Dealer. “You know, he was just as good of a songwriter as Kurt Cobain, but he got tagged with the whole hair-metal era that MTV and ‘Beavis and Butthead’ poked fun at, and it really bummed him out.”
