Review

New Zealand’s Legacy of Disorder have been around for a few years but with Last Man Standing they seem to be coming into their own. Most of the songs on the album are balls-to-the-wall, thrash-inspired compositions seemingly influenced by the best in the field, Metallica and Slayer.

The band is at its best when covering disturbing subject matter. The best song on the album is “March to Death,” a well-drafted and compact critique of Nazi philosophy and its gung-ho brutality. “Impaler” is also a standout — an obvious recount of the life of Vlad the Impaler and his Christian protectionism. Both songs musically move with a brutal force which is a perfect feel because, well … they’re covering brutal aspects of human history here. And kind of tying into the meaning of the band’s name.

With more music like this, the band’s ‘legacy’ will be well on its way.

Legacy of Disorder is currently on tour with Gwar and Municipal Waste.
