Review

Not for the meek at heart, Sandrider are grinding, lucid white noise mixed with melody, conducted by a chainsaw vocalist/guitarist named Jon Weisnewski. By disc end you will either have a hangover or an epiphany, depending on your personality type.

There is no ignoring the apt sludge metal of Sandrider’s Godhead, though. Songs like “Scalpel,” for instance, march on top of you with a parade of sinewy guitar layering. If you can’t hear the emotional depth within the rattling, you ain’t listening.

This Seattle power trio has become a must-see live act in the great Northwest since their eponymous debut a few years back. Now they seek to take their relentless crawl to the rest of the world.
