Motörhead loves when fans buy their records, but not this time. A new box set of 15CDs and a bonus vinyl 7″, called Complete Early Years Box Set, has been released by Sanctuary in the U.K., who apparently has the rights to the band’s early recordings, and they are charging over $600 (On Amazon U.S., it is “temporarily out of stock” as an import and a whopping $644.03, to be exact).

“Unfortunately greed once again rears its yapping head,” says Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. “I would advise against it even for the most rabid completists!”

The set compiles all of the band’s pre-1984 releases, including singles and EPs, in a detailed Motorhead box.

Motörhead have no control over what’s done with these early songs, and claims that they don’t want fans to think that the band is involved in putting out such a costly box set.

Motörhead endorse another new record and DVD out. The CD is The Wörld Is Yours and DVD is The Wörld Is Ours-Vol 1 – Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else (read Powerline’s review here), and the band hopes fans will choose these new releases over the expensive box set.
